Joanna Rice BA (Hons.)

Being a gardener as well as a photographer, much of my work is botanically inspired and usually aims to capture the beauty of nature through the changing seasons. I also enjoy digitally manipulating images to produce solarised, collaged or kaleidoscopic pieces, some of which have a humorous element.

My interest in photography stems from childhood. My grandfather made his own photographic paper, solar photograms and 3D Stereoscopic card images, all of which fascinated me. I was soon taking my own pictures on a Kodak Baby Brownie camera. Since then I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring photography and the moving image in creative ways.
